#31 Capture December 2012

                                                               31. Celebration
This is the photo-a-day challenge for December. If you want to know more about it and possibly take part, click here.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your family!
God Bless :)

New Years Eve: Face

New Year's Eve today also known as Old years night! haha Happy times about leaving the past year behind us, but sad times wondering what is to come. I can't wait to see what 2013 brings for me!

This post is showing you the makeup that I am wearing today for the end of year celebrations:

- L'OREAL Super Liner
-MAC Lipstick 'The Faerie Glen'
-MUA eyeshadow '19 Matt' (for eyebrows)
-MAC Mineralised blush 'Feeling Flush'
-BENEFIT Porefessional
-INIKA Eyeshadow 'autumn plum'
-MAC pressed powder 'Deep Dark'

I decided to keep with the festive vibe and use burnt red for eyeshadow which also matches my outfit for the night. My base foundation  is natural and leaves the mineralised blush to bring vibrancy to the cheeks.

Here is the look:

I can't wait for the firework display tonight and to try out the Chinese Lanterns I got for Christmas yay! :)

Happy New Year!!!!!!!

New Years Eve: Outfits

As it's the last day of the year, I thought I would put together an outfit lookbook sort of thing. I got inspired after trying out lots of different clothes for the celebrations tonight. I hope you like and probably get some inspirations from them.

Number 1 -Going for Gold

Dress: Fdavenue
Boots: Barratts- Truffle Lace up Platform Ankle Boots*

This outfit just reminds me of the wonderful fire works display that goes off on New Years. The colours are quite classy I think but I love the length the most. I have been on the search for a long sleeved dress that falls just below the knee with a tight pencil fit at the bottom. Guess what... I went crazy and bought a few different colours but this one suits the occasion a lot more. There was a half price offer at fdavenue at the time so this was like £7! I don't think they sell this dress anymore but there is a sale now on so go and check it out!
I won these Lita dupes from Barratts for doing a good deed recently so was over the moon about that! Ideally I wanted the studded leather like boots, Truffle Stud Trim Lace Up Ankle Boots but they ran out of my size. The reason why I love these so much is because I have been contemplating JC Litas but I know I won't wear them as much as I'd like to for what they are worth. These are very identical and actually quite comfy too!

Number 2- Lady in red

Dress: TKmaxx
Tights: Primark
Shoes: New Look

This dress was the one I wore to the #bbloggersxmas event in London. I thought it was so appropriate for the xmas theme and still is. The material is gorgeous as it is really soft and the black is that of a velvet feel. I also love how it goes out at the bottom like a pwincess :) haha I saw this in TKmaxx and once I saw the price tag of £16.99, I grabbed it up as this had been the type of dress I was looking for.
The shoes I paired it with were in the New Look sale for £8 and are at such a comfortable height.

Number 3- Disco Disco

Top: Primark
Disco Pants: Daisystreet*
Shawl: vintage
Shoes: Topshop

This outfit is very comfortable with the flats. I made it slightly dressy with the netted shawl and the disco pants which can swing both casual and formal. You could even add a pair of heels to this if you wish to visualise it like that. Peplums are very flattering to add shape to the waist and were £8 when I got the but now £3 in Primark. Got get them! haha

So there it is, my three New Year's Eve looks put together by personal looks I wanted to achieve but of course can be adapted.

Here is a mood board of additional outfits that caught my fancy:

I hope you liked the inspirations. I'm still wondering what to wear.

What are you wearing tonight?

Glossybox- December 2012

This post is about the Glossybox that I received for December. The box was the Christmas Edition and so here are the items which came in my box:

1-      Lemon by Mary Greenwell Eau de Parfum  – This perfume has quite a citrusy,  floral, mature scent. Will keep this at hand but at the moment I am enjoying my new perfumes I got recently :)

2-  Sleek lipstick- OMG  – I have always wanted to try a sleek lipstick and was so excited to try this. But as much as I love pink, I really dislike the really deep bright colour as it does not suit me. It's such a shame. I wish I got another shade but will make this work some how.

3-     Rituals Magic Touch Cherry Blossom and Rice Milk This body cream is so handy to carry around and although I have many, this has been in my handbag for a while and I am liking it. The ingredients of it seem quite nutritional too :)

4-    Glossybox Blusher in Glossy PinkThis is surprisingly pigmented so that is good. The shade is nice, lighter than any I own, but I love to try out different shades. Glossybox brand didn't do so bad this time.

5-     Seche Nail Lacquer in Lumiere – I've heard about this brand so looked forward to trying it. The shade is a light pink so quite nice and you can see it swatched so you have an idea of the shade.

6-   Ayurri Tumeric Facial wash– I like the fact this is full sized and I received another product from this brand in the November box so I know it is good. It smells gorgeous and is lovely to use.

What I think –Overall contents of the box was okay, the actual box I loved! Nothing made me go 'OMG' apart from the Sleek product but I was not in love with the shade. However I will use everything else and 6 products was not bad :)

What did you think of your December box?

Glossybox- November 2012

This post is about the Glossybox that I received in November. I know, I know it's late but better late than never right? Truth is, I was so busy at the time, birthday, exams, Christmas... will you ever forgive me?! haha

So the box was to act as an inspirational gift guide for stocking fillers for Christmas. Here is what came in my box:

1-Ayuuri Indian Rose Face Cream This cream smells very nice, I know not everyone will like the scent but I do. It's full size!! yay :) And I use it for my body and not just limit it to my face as I am using certain products for my face and don't want to mix too much what I use. It contains Indian Rose, Jasmine and Aloe extract. It is not the most hydrating creams out there, but it is good to carry around for emergencies. It currently is chilling in my car haha

2-Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant I was pleased to see this Dermalogica product. Never tried something in this form to exfoliate but it's a first. Will keep you posted on how I get on with it but so far so good. It leaves your complexion looking brighter and more awake after use.

3-Burberry Body Eau de Parfum – This was by far my favourite of the box. I have been wanting this perfume for so long and need it even more now I have my own sample. The bottle it comes in is just... wow and the smell is so good. It;s running out so need a replacement ASAP!  To describe the scent, it would be kind of musky but sophisticated and girly lol

4-    Alison Claire Natural Beauty Mango Body Butter This body cream smells great. But I would say that about anything that smelt of mango. The textures is really creamy on the skin which I love and the packaging is nice and compact also. It works for me as it is great for sensitive skin.

5-Nails Inc Polish Nails inc is forever raved about so trying it for the first time was a great opportunity. Even better, it is a light colour for the top coat of your nail polish. The shade is 'caviar'. I know many would hate it and complain it isn't bright enough, but that is right up my street and I know I would wear it a lot. It applies well, as expected from these polishes, so I like!

What I think I loved this box very much and quite a few items were on point this time. I will use all the products so I am happy. :)

How was your November box?

#30 Capture December 2012

                                                            30. Resolution

This is the photo-a-day challenge for December. If you want to know more about it and possibly take part, click here.

My new years resolution post... tricky one...

At first I had non, because you can live life as it comes and just pray it all falls into place, ignoring all this 'end of world' nonsense.
you could set goals but setting too many and failing them can be a bit of a bummer :(

So the one I wrote down was to 'always remember Good Health'. This just means to keep it in mind and it doesn't really restrict me much. So I will bear in mind my health with what I eat, how much I exercise etc. I have heard healthier superfoods including Acai Berries and similar treats are good for you, so I must try them out this year!
Find the perfect concealer as I've never used one and want to try it out to see if it works for me.
Take the time to give my hair TLC by steaming it regularly to strengthen it.
Grow and maintain healthy nails, not necessarily long though.
Be more wise in my spending and only purchase items I feel will be used to a long time
Enter 2013 with a fresh peace of mind.

I also have plans to focus more on my blog and directions I want to take. After all, you want to be proud of what you blog about right!?

I have achieved so much more than I expected when starting my blog in July. Not like I had many expectations being a newbie and all, but I feel it is time to do a giveaway!!!. I did plan I would do this once my exams were over and Christmas was done, so keep year ears and eyes peeled :)

Was a gift from someone's heart- CHRISTMAS PRESENTS

Hi, Hi!

I hope you all had  fantastic Christmas celebrations because I certainly did. Still recovering from your food coma's?! or hitting the sales?! haha

Today I am going to show you what I kindly received from loved ones around the Christmas period. I remember watching these videos on youtube last year, so interesting to watch especially if you're a tad nosey... don't say you are not! Some people really dislike the idea of sharing, but if you don't like it, jog on. For your own good I think, not in a horrible way. So if you want to see what I got, read on...

Okay so this year I was extremely appreciative of what I got. I think it's because last year, I added last minute things to my Christmas list that I wanted but did not need or get much use out of. They were expensive and bless my mum for trying to make me happy.

This year I have started blogging about beauty and fashion and told everyone that I would appreciate any beauty or fashion things. I knew I would put products on my blog to review after trialing them so I was quite excited and looking forward to that. So basically my Christmas list was less heavy than last year with practical things I wanted over the year.

So I'm still jibber jabbering on...

I also included some birthday things I got in November - RT brushes + Topshop Lipsticks + Sigma Brush.

Ever so grateful for what I got.
Charmed, Infrared, RT Core + stippling brush, Sigma F88

Snow Fairy, Dream cream, Mac pressed powder, Aromatherapy associates
I missed the Lush sale last year so knew I didn't want to miss out again. I got one little bottle of Snow Fairy, tried it, and wish I had bought the large bottle. I went back and the large bottles had all sold out! arhh
First time buying something from Aromatherapy Associates so I thought this bath + shower oil would be a good start after being reduced by £6!

Bobbi brown eyeliner is known to be one of the best, so was thrilled my mum got it- review to come soon :)
This blush is from a Secret Santa swap I did which is such a gorgeous bright colour.

Other things featured: Soap and glory set, Simple set, Celebrations, Lush box, No.7 facial cleanse set, vanity case + makeup, New look shoes I got in the sales.

This cup is just perfect, my cousin knows me too well. I'd rather be shopping most of the time haha.
These cosmetics were received in a Christmas beauty swap with an Australian blogger which I posted about here. It's so great to try out products I can't get here in the UK easily.

Two books I've wanted for a while.
So here it is, my Christmas present haul with a few sale items. My mum had bought me gifts from Benefit and Chanel and unfortunately, my sister must have dropped them in the shopping centre as they are nowhere to be seen in the house... SISTERS waahh! but it's the thought that counts, so I'm really not upset at all. I'm actually surprised my mum found the counters but all that money... must have made someones Christmas special haha. With the presents I would have got, I was booked to get a makeover at Benefit which I still have, so I can't wait for that!!

I am waiting on some online orders to arrive, so I will try and post about my sale finds later :)

Feel free to share what you got for Christmas :)

#29 Capture December 2012

                                                               29. Flowers
This is the photo-a-day challenge for December. If you want to know more about it and possibly take part, click here.

Today I captured some flowers I put together myself... so proud haha

Well I bought a few different bunches of flowers and used what I was taught by a florist last Summer into practice. I snipped away to make some of the flowers fit into this little cute vase. The rest I put in another vase to decorate the dining room. It looks a little crammed at the bottom, now I am staring at it in the post, so I could have got rid of some leaves, but considering I haven't done this for quite a few months, I think it's a pretty good attempt if I do say so myself :)

Isn't that pink flower such a lovely vibrant colour?

Secret Santa #3- Australian Christmas Beauty Box Swap

This post is quite exciting, for me anyway! Doing a Christmas box swap/ Secret Santa was a first for me this year but lucky for me, I took part in 3 of them! This one however was done over seas with the wonderful Nalini behind the blog; Made up Maiden from Australia. This swap was organised by Jasmine from Sweetaholic-Beauty so thanks for organising it!!

First up, we decided on a price and what we wanted to send eachother, like what brands/products we couldn't easily access where we lived. I wanted to try something from The face of Australia and definitely try the baby lips lip balm fro Maybelline. The price we agreed on was £20/$30.

These are what I got in the post from Nalini:

Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Glow (Pink Blast)- Love love love! Will be carried everywhere with me, especially on placement J
BYS Blush Duo (03 Miss Pink)- A girl can never have too much blush, so this is great. I’m particularly loving the darker pink.
Natio Rich Colour Creme gloss (Calm)- Couldn’t have got a better shade, as In like the girly tone of pink.
Natio Liquid Eyeliner (Plum/Black)- I am an eyeliner person, and I always buy black, so I love this alternative colour which is a dark purple which I already have on now haha
BYS eye shadow palette (Dessert Sands)- I know browny/golden/sandy colours suit me more and I feel I can wear them a whole lot for a suitable look. Beautiful shades!
Savvy Automatic Eyeliner (Jade)- Was excited to try this brand and I love eyeliners. Not my usual colour, but it is pretty wearable. I love the fact it comes with a mini sharpener and corrector. So cool!
Innoxa lipstick (Marigold)- he shade goes well with my skin tone and leave lovely sheen. Perfect for New Years.
Natio meditate natural perfume (Bakhu Attar)- When I opened the box, I spelt this gorgeous fragrance. I thought maybe it was sprayed with perfume and really wish I had that scent to keep in perfume form. The last thing I pulled out was this, so was very happy I got it. It smells to calming, can’t wait to use!
Face of Australia Mascara (Black)- I asked to try something from this brand is was very happy as you can’t get that here. The mascara end is different to my other and very fine to give that extreme curl, so I like!
Essence Stay with me lasting Lipgloss (09 Hottest Pink)- The pink of this is lovely to just watch, but just as nice a shade on the lips. The pipette at the end is so cute and I love it for that more than anything haha.

I loved everything I got and really appreciate it all especially coming all the way from down under! I would love to do more swaps in the future, maybe from the US next time. So let me know if you would like to do so in the new year.

Thanks again Naliini, I hope you like what I got you :)

#28 Capture December 2012

                                                              28. A Movie

This is the photo-a-day challenge for December. If you want to know more about it and possibly take part, click here.

Today I captured the movies I really want to see, and probably will go and see one of them at the weekend! So after I saw Nativity, I thought it was so funny I knew the second one will be just as good and possibly better. The Parental Guidance looks good too! Decisions I have to make... arrhh. But either way, anyone I choose should be a great family night out.

On the Flixter app, you can watch trailers and see showings at cinemas near you... check it out :)

Have you seen any of these?

Snow is falling... - Secret Santa

As you already know, I took part in a #MSMSecretsanta challenge which I thoroughly enjoyed but so happened to have joined two other Secret Santa's also. It's my first year doing all this and admittedly, I got carried away, but I am so happy I did.

This Secret Santa was organised by Aimee who did a grand job.
This was a swap where you got someone something worth £10 but received a gift from someone completely different. I sent mine off early, and to be honest, I started thinking that I wouldn't get anything myself as I have heard these things go wrong sometimes. *violins are playing*. But then, one day.... A parcel came full of golden wrapped presents. I was not forgotten and was so excited to open the gifts. I put them under the tree and impatiently watched them everyday in the lead up to Christmas day. The day is finally here and I can rip at the wrapping to my hearts content! eeek!!

We had to state 3 things we like for the other person to have some idea of what to buy, mine were a bit random but hey hoo! -> pretty hair accessories, eye makeup/lashes and chocolate, this is what I got from the lovely... Islay!

These are the things I got:
- PJ shorts
I love the Christmas design of these and it is the same in my houshold that we get new PJ's at Christmas time. This year, we all wore onsies. My dad didn't because he is not cool enough but even the whole street did, so that was amazing.
 -Vest Top
I am always buying these vest tops to layer up and cover up low cut tops. Weird I don't have navy blue so thanks very much.

Love these! I own gold ones from H&M so silver is a great addition. Very pretty.

-Nail Art Pens
Eeeeek! Lovely choice of nail art pens. I know I won't be as good as Islay is with her careful hand at nail designs (check out her blog) but I will try. I can't wait to give it a go!

I am loving candles so much right now and have passed on this addiction to my mum. hehee! This strawberries & cream scented candle is so good... I want to eat it. It's pink too!

Thank you so much Islay for the gifts, all under £10 too! My favourite has to be the nail art pens :)
I hope the person I got, loves their presents!

My collective presents post will be up soon !! :)

How were your secret santa's this year?

#27 Capture December 2012

                                      27. Stripes vs Spots
This is the photo-a-day challenge for December. If you want to know more about it and possibly take part, click here.

Here is a simple post capturing stripes and spots. It was easy finding something stripy but not spotty. This just shows me that I need more spots in my life that are not included on my face! haha

The black and white stripes are from one of my favourite cardigans. Very flattering at the front with a gradient finish. The spots are from my Warehouse dress. More like splatters of different colours, but they look like spots so we'll go with that :)

Hope you had a good day today. I'm going to hit more shops tomorrow... yay!!

I knew you were trouble- OOTD

Dress: Miss Selfridges
Jacket: ASOS
Cardigan: Harriets Boutique
Shoes: Barratts
Bag: Zara
Belt: Primark
Tights: Primark
Watch: Next

This outfit is what I wore to the daisystreet event a few weeks ago. However in the pictures I hardly wore my jacket, so now you can see the full look.

The dress has been sat in my wardrobe for a while now ever since I bought it. It was time to unleash it from its misery and put it to good use. This statement piece is very bright and has a beautiful neck detail that really does not need any necklace jewelry at all. I find some pieces of clothing just don't need to be over shadowed by the heaviness jewellry can sometimes add. I love taking in the waist with a belt, so I went for the 'tie the rope' look.

The purple cardigan is so thin so just right to wear under the jacket for layering up, but very classy indeed. I love the way it fits and I will most often wear it as a three-quarter sleeve.

The thick black tights from Primark have become my besties this winter, can't go very wrong. I wouldn't cry if they ripped and got old quickly but they have not failed me.

These dainty shoes were bought in the boxing day sales in Barratts about 3 years ago. £7, I must still be dreaming because this was such a good bargain it was kind of unreal. They have lasted me long and still in pretty good condition. Just the perfect height for having to wear them for hours. I am still on the look out for sales to top that!

For this event, my bag was used more as a clutch but I still used the long strap to and from the venue so I rocked it both ways :)
