London Fashion Week | Zeynep Kartal A/W14

When I went to London Fashion Week, one of the shows I attended at Fashion Scout was Zeynep Kartal's. This was full of beautiful glitzy evening pieces which I knew I had to share with you.
The designer Zeynep has a signature style of smooth and sophisticated elegance which was definitely portrayed on the catwalk for her A/W14 collection. Did you know her aim is for women to find their own style and feel confident in their appearance?
The makeup on this catwalk was all done by BodyshopUK and those bold red lips were popping! I am a lover of ombre lips, so the burgundy and bright red looked great. Tony and Guy created some huge beehive styles all together creating a modern Hollywood look which was the main inspiration for these pieces.

The designer loves to natural materials incorporating silk, lace and intricate hand made embellishments.

An extremely feminine theme throughout the whole show with a lot of skin on show.

The picture above has to be one of my favourites showcased.

It was a great experience shooting these red carpet worthy looks on the catwalk and I am pretty sure some of these pattern will make it to the High Street Stores this A/W.

Which is your favourite look?

My January and February Blues are long gone!

January Blues are inevitable straight after Christmas and the sales. Physically, mentally and financially draining times. Back to school, uni or work with a few extra lbs to start the year... fun times.
However, I think my blues have all gone thanks to the lovely people at Fand F. They contacted me with a perfect solution to bidding fear well to feeling down in January and it WORKED!

A 'Bloggers Night In Survival Kit' beautifully packaged was a joy to open. There were goodies for two people so I thought I would treat my sister to a night of pampering to relieve her from her GCSE revision and exams.

There were certainly some yummy treats instore for us as well as pyjamas and slippers for both of us. Chocolates, haribo's and popcorn was a recipe for a girly night concoction. Times like these made me wish I had a cinema room in my house as we watched films all night.

My favourite out of the whole box had to be the luxurious hot chocolate. I do love hot chocolate a lot and would consider myself as a 'hot chocolate critic' if I do say so myself haha. This was 'thebomb.com'!! So rich and perfect with marshmallows. Of course we also tried the soap and glory face mask. Luckily we had the house to our self so we didn't frighten a soul with our masked up faces.
Checked Bottoms Pyjamas

I do believe a night in, with new pj's, treats, movies and good company can rid you of any blues you may be feeling. Try it!!

London Fashion Week A/W14 Street Style

These are just some of the snaps I took around Somerset House at London Fashion Week. Lots of inspiration for current and up coming trends I think.
Triple pocket bag
Red Everything...
Fur coat

Gold Hardware

Total Grip Sole

Monochrome footwear

Flared Jackets

Ruck sac
Caramel Over-sized coat
Silver Midi Skirt

Monochrome Matching

Nets and Pointed Boots

'Lights Camera Action'

Dusky Pink Shorts
I had so much fun taking pictures of these wonderful pieces and even more so chatting with the individuals. It was intriguing learning about the different areas people travelled from and discovering designs that were being worn on the days. It was great coming across people who wore a mix match of high street and designer pieces. Why not have a bit of both huh? As it was lovely and sunny on Day 3, sunglasses were out by most, which I had planned to pack but forgot. There is nothing wrong with wearing sunglasses even if it isn't sunny, especially trotting around Somerset House :)
My favourites that I came across were Limes, Pastels and fresh white footwear.

London Fashion Week | Day 2

Last weekend I went down to London with Sindy for London Fashion Week A/W14. It was an amazing and surreal experience. The environment full of fashionistas was something else. I just had to capture the various styles I came across. I was also invited to a few shows which I will delighted to attend so I will show you my favourite pieces in a following post including Zeynep Kartal's designs.
Below is the outfit I wore for Day 2 of London Fashion Week.
Dress: French Connection
Skirt: New Look
Cape: HandM
Tights: Primark
Bag: Zara
Shoes: Schuh
Hat: Primark

It was my first time at Somerset House and I loved it! My weekend down South consisted on fitting in some shopping, getting pampered by Debenhams #LFWDebsBoutique and a spot of sight seeing. I wish I could have done more though but I will be back pretty soon.

Hope you are well :)

Reviews: Gusto Restaurant and Bar Cookridge

Last week I had the pleasure of dining out at Gusto Restaurant and Bar- Cookridge. Right on my doorstep is this wonderful Italian cuisine which is located outside town. As you can see from my pictures it does look very pretty at night with all the lights and even better inside with its modern interior.
GUSTO: "It's all a matter of taste"
I had the opportunity to review the food so I will give my honest opinion throughout...fair?
After we were greeted we had some nibbles whilst we decided on our initial meal. We got the Baked Rosemary Focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar (£3.50) and Gusto Dough petals with garlic butter (£3.50).
We were sat in the middle of the room with great lighting and classic features adding a nice vibe to the atmosphere. It was a lovely touch having the roots of trees growing within the restaurant. The outdoor terrace is heated too which is perfect for those cold wintry nights.

For starters I had home-made chicken liver pate served with red onion and cranberry chutney (£5.25). The portion for the pate was so big! The chutney was not very tangy as the usual chutney I have tried in the past but it sure does not contribute to high cholesterol :) The person I went with got the Burratina Mozzarella cheese with slow roasted beetroot and herb wafers (£7.95). The herb wafers were delicious and I would give 100% for the presentation of this starter.
There are many options on the menu ranging from pizza, pasta, seafood and meats so the choice is up to you. We ordered the Tagliatelle without prawns, garlic and sweet chilli tomato sauce finished with lime and rocket (£6.50). This is perfect if you want a real Italian dish cooked to perfection and of course you don't mind the kick the chilli gives. We also had to try the Gusto burger with melted mozzarella served with tasty fries (£12.50). The burger was mighty fine with the a lovely sweet sauce in it so I would recommend! For sides we got chips (£3.00) and some garlic mushrooms (£3.00)... yum yum. Seasoned to a tea :)
To end the night we got sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream £5.95 which was yumtastic and the Hot Chocolate and hazelnut brownie served with pistachio ice cream and chocolate sauce £5.95. The ice-cream complimented the brownie greatly leaving me wanting more...
Hot chocolate with marshmallows was a perfect finish to the evening!

This just goes to show that you don't have to go into the heart of town for good restaurants. With a quieter area of location parking is most definitely guaranteed in their restaurant car park opposite, very convenient I know. This is a great place to celebrate special occasions or have a lovely meal with friends/family.

Will you be visiting Gusto anytime soon?

OOTD | Suede Textured Blazer

Jacket: Zara
Dress: Topshop
Tights: Primark
Bag: Zara
Boots: Primark
Stole: Zara*

This stole has made a previous appearance on the blog, even more so on my instagram (@mintyessence) meaning I do love it to death at the moment. It keeps me so warm! This outfit was photographed by mummy Essence and I am so proud of the outcome. Usually her skills are not even satisfactory but I have to take my hat off to her on this one. This was done on the night we went to The Botanist Trinity Leeds - my review will be with you this week.
I am wearing my favourite contrasting colours creams, browns and burgundy and added quite a few textures. The blazer being suede, the faux fur stole and leather bag = texture galore!
This was taken in Trinity Shopping Centre with my fave Victoria Secrets behind. I think I have all of their body mists in my collection I love them so much haha!
I am so excited to find out more this week about the Manchester Fashion Week that will be coming up later this year. I will keep you informed on the "currently top secret" shenanigans.

Who's going to London Fashion Week?
