Week Break Away...

This week, I spent it in the south of England in Dorset. So beautiful. The weather was great for the majority of the week but just couldn't hold up much longer at the weekend, but thats ok.
I went with my family and we tried to visit and do as much as we could when the weather was Bliss.
We got a ferry over to the Isle of wight and visited Sandown, Ryde, Cowes and Newport. Last year I went but visited the other places I missed out this year. I absolutely loved seeing the sea, so peacful and full of calmness.
Back in the South, we went to Sanbanks and swam in the sea. It is known to be one of the best beaches in England and really is beautiful. It is completely filled with golden sand and non of the pebbled beach nonesence. The scenery was divine and so many massive houses along the coast. I have big plans for the future, not to mention owning a Yacht- My dad thinks I'm mad.

On the way back up north, we popped into the Red Hot Buffet in Nottingham, could not say no :) Now its back to hustle and bustle of life. Boo!

Here are some pictures of what I wore throughout the week and the scenes I captured:

I had a fun time down south, never disappoints :)

Black 'n' White Flatforms...

If you know me, you would know I prefer comfort over style. But why not merge the two.
Flatforms are amazing especially as there are all types for different events occasions etc.

I hate wearing high heels because I always seem to be the tallest of the bunch, so I find flatforms give me a nice height that doesn't make me stick out like a girraffe. But I must say, I do love wearing heels occasionally for short periods of time. Another plus is that if I were to run for a bus, I could, so thats handy.

Here are the flatforms I have and love the most right now. They are all different and have their own characteristics.

These flats are from H&M and are my favourite day-to-day shoes. I am currently on holiday in the South of England and just find these flats extremely comfy to wear for long walks, which is fantastic. Initially I bought the higher wedges but replaced them with these beauties as I had been on a look out for 'thee' wedges. Found them!

These plimsoles are from River Island look great on the feet. Disappointed they aren't comfy at all, but I think it is just the cut of the shoe near the toe area. They give a great height but are easy enough to walk in. Also white is amazing when clean and expensive looking but when dirty, it can look a bit trampy- don't you think?

These flatforms are just the cutest. Not exactly flat as they do have a higher instep than the others on this blog but fell in love with the wicker woven detail on the wedge heel. Also the contrasting colours of the brown and the white is very flattering.

These creepers I absolutely love. At first seeing these on blogs and in shoe shops I asked my self 'Do I really like these?' My answer was '???' I really did not know, but the more and more I saw them, I wanted them so badly. Seriously. I wouldn't stop talking about them and my mum got a little fed up with my obsession because I felt I could style them to my personal preference. I bought these in Schuh and are slightly different to the underground ones as they are Bronx and have a jagged sole as opposed to the completely flat soles. I like this difference. And black suede matches everything!

These black wedges are also from River Island and are similar to the white ones above. However these are more plain and I believe a newer edition. If you have not guessed already, I am a shoes addict. I saw these shoes and just thought I needed them in my life as they will come handy someday. Personally I think they are not really comfy to walk in as they have a hard sole. Maybe it just needs breaking in around the house first. Also I heard a common problem of these strap shoes is that they detatched themselves from the atual shoe so I weary of that. But apart from that, I like.

Later I will show how I personally would style these shoes with different outfits- should be fun.

What do you think about flatforms?

Bare Minerals Beauty...

I have never tried any products from ‘Bare Minerals’ so was excited to try this eye shadow. Conveniently I got this in one of my  Glossybox's. Although I was given half the size at 1g instead of 2g at RRP £7, the pot is really cute anyway.
The shade I was given, ‘Her Majesty’ was the best choice ever! I am really into natural/nude colours at the moment so this pinky/goldy shade was perfect. With my skin completion it goes well and with lighter tones also if you are looking for a subtle daily look. The glitter in it looks great when it catches the light too. The only down side is that as it is a loose powder, it can get pretty messy so you can’t sneeze anywhere near it! Haha
But as it is such a cute size, it doesn’t take much space up in the make-up bag. I also find it best to use my little finger to apply it instead of using a brush.
Have you tried Bare Minerals Beauty products? If so which is your favourite?

Pleasing Pretty Prada...

Ok so firstly, I just wanted my title to rhyme or have a ring to it. Putting that aside, this post is about the 1950's Baroque styled sunglasses. I know its coming to the end of Summer and I am now looking out my window. It is pouring down with rain mehh! But Summer is not yet over

When I first saw the pair, I thought they stood out, but for all the right reasons.
I love the swirly patterns on the side and how it just tucks into your ear at the back so smoothly. If you asked me a few months back if I liked the style, I'm not too sure what I would have said :s It won't be everyones cup of tea. But this has currently been trending although I don't always keep up with the trend, I like the quirkiness of this product. It has also been seen on some celebrities too.

*picture acquired from here

There are different colours to pick from: black, ivory, tortoiseshell, streaked horn etc

If you really aren't sure if you would like to splurge £215 on Prada Sculpted Acetate Sunglasses, then there are alternatives here. Keep in mind they won't be as good quality as Prada but they will surely whisk you away into the baroque period.

What do you think about this style of sunglasses? What sunglasses are you loving?

New Look #holidayhop...

After seeing on Daisybutter's blog regarding a competition teamed up with New Look, I knew I just had to give it ago. This is what it is all about:
"Imagine you are going to Ibiza for a long weekend. Create a post on your blog stating which items from the New Look store you would wear to complete each of the following outfits on your holiday. You have 5 outfits for 5 occasions, so which items would you wear and why?
Choose from: Travel Style, Poolside, Beach It, Sunset Supper, Beach to Club."

1- Denim Stud Collar Sleeveless Shirt £24.99

Black PU Side Panel Leggings £12.99

-Most importantly when you go on your travels, you opt for comfort and that is my aim with this outfit. However, style is just as important :) So the trendy denim with the collar detailing is great. I chose sleeveless because sometimes it can be a little stuffy on board and you don't want to be restricted to how much you can move because unless your flying business class, you ain't got much space.
-These aren't any old black leggings, they're embellished! Fancy eh, and so on point right now following the Baroque n roll trend.
-You might be thinking these why the hell have you got boots. But I have it planned. Weather in the UK is horrendous, most of the time. So... slugging your luggage onto transport and in and around the airport aren't gonna make you a happy bunny if your feet are soaked. When your on the plane, you can kick back and relax.
-The bag goes well with the black theme I happen to have going on. quilted tassel bag gives a rock-chic kind of feel. And can be worn on the wrist or on the shoulder with a strap. It is a decent size for hand luggage and will fit all those important necessities.
-You definitely need to keep track of time- don't want to miss your flight! This rose gold watch in contrast with the black compliments the outfit.

7- Multicolour Ombre Zig Zag Cut Out Swimsuit  £22.99

-If your just lounging at the side of the pool, I like to have a light cover up which is just easy to slip off if you want a dip in the pool.
-OMBRE, OMBRE! I love this pastel print which will look great with the white throw over and even better in the sun. Th e cut out is quite sexy too.
-The multicoloured sandals look very pretty with the swimsuit as they match well.  The chain detailing is great too.
-Preventing the blinding sun has to be these chic round sunglasses that will match your outfit due to the fact it has every colour of the rainbow in it.

11- Large Round Sunglasses £1.00

- This swimsuit should emphasize the beautiful scenic greenery that lines the beaches. Take in the Vitamin D but remember your sun cream!
-These simple big round glasses are very convenient and check out that price! :o

13- London Rebel Black Spike Heel Court Wedges £54.99

- This dress has the gracious aztec print and peplum style all in one. woo! It is a great evening dress for a warm evening out.
-These wedges are quite comfy to wear for a night and possibly a stroll along the coast line. The spikes at the back of the shoes go well with the dress pattern.
-The clutch is quite compact and matches the outfit being black with gold detailing.
-The watch is a lovely accessory to team up with the gold theme. However when your having fun, you won't be looking at the time :)

16- Black Belted Skater Dress  £14.99

17- Stone Canvas Cork Wedge Shoes  £11.00

18- White Iridescent Envelope Clutch  £14.99

-The skater dress is quite versatile when it comes to any occasion especially being black. It is what you dress it up with is the key factor.
-The white shoes and clutch give a classy feel to the outfit. The wedges are simple and can easily be slipped off when on the beach.

I had so much fun putting these outfits together and I hope you liked them too. I must admit that I added a few items to my shopping basket as a result of this challenge- so thats a plus. I so wish I could be jetting off to Ibiza now....

Why not give this fun task a go yourself? (It ends the 24th August 2012)

House of Fraser Style Challenge!

Hey, hey!I recently came across a competition hosted by House of Fraser that gave a great challenge. I thought, why not eh. The challenge is to create a look for AW’12 and the lucky winner will be awarded a £200 gift card.

This is what I chose:

3) THERAPY Biker Jacket
4) STEVE MADDEN Chaufer Sm Casual Shoes
5) PIED A TERRE Milan Square Bowling Bag

The items I've chosen are inspired by the ‘back to Uni/Work/school' theme. As I am going back to Uni for my second year and I thought I would look out for a ‘ready to start back hard work’ outfit J.

The plain coloured embellished blouse will go well with the highly detailed trousers. The prints are very trendy for Autumn ’12 and also look very comfortable for moving around to different lectures.  As I like my easy way of living, flat casual shoes are a MUST. Especially if you will be in them all day and I love the little tassels on them. The burgundy colour matches the colour of the bowling bag. I like to have a little matching going on in my outfits so this is why they compliment each other greatly. I know the bag is quite small for fitting 3 files, 10 books and a fat pencil case etc, but I’m thinking the first day/week back in when you’re just establishing your course contents and starting the first modules. So a few stationary pieces, some paper, phone, purse, chewing gum, random junk... you know, those sort of things. Lastly, the faux leather biker jacket is for warmth and style.

I hope you enjoyed reading how I would style these items together. Why not give the challenge a go!

If you'd like to enter the competition check it out here. It ends the 10th September 2012 @ 5pm

Best of luck! xx

Glossybox- August 2012

1-      Alessandro Pro White Nail Polish (Germany) – I think this is a great idea behind the purpose of this nail polish. It is to brighten yellow stained nails as a result of wearing too much nail polish or even smoking! As I don’t continuously wear that much nail polish and my nails aren’t yellow, the polish does leave a slight blue tint which may or may not bother you.  For now, I am going to use this as a base coat or even a top coat if I want a tint of blue or just the lovely glossy effect it leaves.

2-     DHC Deep Cleansing Oil (Japan) – This is a water-soluble deep cleansing oil which helps to remove makeup.  Simply dispense into dry hands and massage onto dry face to dissolve makeup, dirt and other impurities. Then rinse it off. After reading this, it seems to be like magic oil just ‘dissolving the makeup. I have never used a oil based makeup remover before and am quite hesitant to use it especially when my skin type is combinational. This is when I tend to have an oily T-zone prone to spots.  However I will give it a go.

3-     All for Eve Eve’s Balm – Multipurpose balms are a must. This herbal/oil smelling balm is great for use on under nourished chapped skin so handy to keep in your bag, especially in the winter months. As well as using this for areas such as elbows, knees, heels, knuckles etc it also contains a cute little mirror. So no need to add another compact mirror into your bag- we all know how heavy women’s bags can be!
* The Eve Appeal was created to help raise funds and awareness for gynaecological cancer research.

4-    Vera Valenti L’ombre a Paupiere Maragrita (Spain) – First impressions of this compact was that the packaging looked cheap as the information sticker at the back wasn’t stuck on properly and the plastic container was like that of a kids play makeup set. The plus is that I like the universal gradual gradient of brown shades in the palette. I like my neutrals shades and is suitable for all skin colours. The greens finish of the design but aren’t particularly my favourite colours to put on my eyelids.

5-     Lipcote (UK) – First time trying a lip coat, so that is exciting. The packaging is soo cute but that’s just my weird obsession with appearance of products J.  Staying power with lippies are great but when I opened this, its smells very strong just like nail polish or nail polish remover. The ingredients contain Isopropyl alcohol, Benzyl alcohol and Cinnamyl alcohol= a recipe for being tipsy or worse, a hangover lol! On my lips it initially stung and left an extremely bitter taste (Yes I lick my lips occasionally haha) . I don’t know if I will come to like it but for now, I am ok taking my time to re-applying my lippies throughout the day.

6-    Glossy Box Lipstick in Glossy Pink – Glossybox seem to be expanding their beauty range because previously they brought out a blusher brush. This lipstick is more impressive than the brush as the packaging is tres chic. The shade ‘Glossy Pink’ is a nice pink as it isn’t too bright. However when applied it is highly pigmented which is great. I wonder what they will bring out next.

What I think  This box was put together for the theme of the London Olympics 2012 the ‘international superstars’ edition. The products are brands from around the world which haven’t necessarily been heard of before. Overall this box was good and I know I will use the balm the most. I must say I am so happy when I see the box get delivered to my door because you never know what goodies there are.

What other countries would you like to have seen featured in a Glossybox? What did you enjoy?
